An online marketplace where you will find absolutely anything you can imagine for and for some it’s something they cannot live without. With the earth’s biggest selection of products ranging from clothing, electronics or furniture to skincare/haircare products you will find absolutely anything you want to buy here. Amazon has given a new meaning to online shopping with its products, from students buying things for school to professionals looking to buy sophisticated gadgets including but not limited to electronics and healthcare devices, amazon has redefined online shopping!!
Founding Vision of Amazon
Amazon was founded by Jeff Bezos who wanted to open a virtual bookstore so that people could have easy access to books as he himself regarded book reading as a great source of learning. Another major reason for opening an online book store is the form factor, physical books can be damaged in shipping whereas there is no such thing associated with electronics versions of those books.
Although amazon started as an online bookstore but has grown by leaps and bounds now and has become the world’s biggest online store, selling anything one can imagine.
Principles of Leadership and Amazon’s Evolution
Innovative/Customer obsessed and visionary are a few of the words that are often used to describe Jeff Bezos’s personality, and amazon is indeed guided by similar principles namely customer obsession, passion for invention, operational excellence and long term thinking. These principles are indeed the foundation for what amazon aims to achieve which is firstly to be earths most customer focused company, the earth’s best employer and the earth’s safest place to work. With objectives like these a company has to be led by a leader with traits that closely align with the company’s objectives. Bezos stepped down as the CEO of amazon in July 2021 to focus more on his other project called the Blue Origin and appointed Andy Jassy as the new CEO of Amazon, an individual with traits that closely align with amazons principles of being an avid learner and a person who encourages and supports new ideas and information.
