At some point of time everyone has had a thought go through their mind about starting a business and making it big, about growing it to new heights, about telling everyone about it but there is something that keeps you away from taking that first step, the first move or you can say the first risk. Your Mind is engulfed with thoughts like what if it doesn’t grow as per my thoughts, what if I put in all my hard-earned money to it and it all goes down the drain. What if I am unable to let everybody know about it? I am sure you have gone through all these thoughts at some time in your life. But what if everybody thinks this way, what if everybody is fearful of the first and the most important step. The outcomes are obvious, we won’t have food on the table, we won’t be able to enjoy and cherish the visits to the malls with their indulging stores, we won’t be able to buy our favorite electronics, we won’t be able to enjoy those delicious cuisines for those middle of the night hunger pangs!
Someone at some point in time took that step, made the decision to start a business, to invest or put his hard-earned savings into opening a restaurant, maybe out of passion or out of need but they made the move, they went for it. Sure, they would have faced times when they got depressed, with thoughts like why I did this, I could have tried something else, or I simply could have done my 9 to 5 job. But guess what the big restaurants that you and your friends and family dine out at, spend your evenings after a hard day’s work, or just kill time and have some nice conversations over coffee. Those people who are the owners of these restaurants and coffee shops had one thing in mind when they started off and it was no matter the obstacles, the matter the difficulties they would face in the beginning, they knew that consistency is key and the time they put in to build their business is not going to be wasted. The hours they would spend with suppliers , negotiating pricing and supply , the time spend for physical and digital marketing although would surely take a toll on their life, affecting relationships with family, using up time that could otherwise be spent with the kids , all this and more would happen but what they had in the back of their mind was that once they go through all this they would be able to setup an empire for generations later , an empire which would grow with new ideas and innovation , an empire that would serve people and make a great for itself.
So, you’re tired of your 9-5 gig, you don’t like it when your boss gives you more work than he should, you think you are treated unfairly, you are made to work more than was agreed upon. Most of all you feel you are not appreciated enough for the work you do. And that’s not wrong, most of the surveys done around the world regarding reasons top employees leave an organization, or do not perform to their potential is lack of appreciation and fair compensation. Ask a recruiter how difficult it is to find a quality resource and you will get your answer. Firms are having a difficult time retaining quality talent. The world has become a global village and with the advent of the internet and the growing prospect of remote jobs, you can literally work when you want and where you want with no decrease in productivity and meeting your objectives or your targets. A lot of graduates who are skilled and well educated after working for an employer and learning the tricks of the trade start their own business, get their own clients, are their own marketing managers and even troubleshooters when faced with problems. It’s because they believe they can do it! They can work for themselves, they can be their own boss, they can set their own schedules, being accountable to only themselves. The freedom that one gets from this is unthinkable, it gives you the opportunity to spend quality time with your friends and family.
All this seems amazing and something everyone would cherish but as with every other thing in this world it required careful planning and timely execution, working on one’s skills, gaining relevant experience and being consistent are the key to success here. Once you believe you have them all, let me tell you there is nothing that would stop you from succeeding in life and making a name for yourself.
